Monitor by 2N5 and Sipfront, side by side
| Feature | Monitor by 2N5 | Sipfront |
|---|---|---|
| Places real test calls | Yes: calls SIP trunks, 0800, 0300, 4004 and landline numbers, the way a customer calls | Yes: Beat places synthetic SIP calls and validates signaling and media; the targets are SIP trunks and E.164 numbers (source) |
| How it measures voice quality | MOS-LQO measured on the received audio, against the reference recording (ViSQOL) | MOS, jitter, loss and RTT in Beat; the blog says Sipfront prefers ViSQOL for audio MOS. Whether every check uses ViSQOL: not confirmed (source) |
| Confirms the failure before alerting | Yes: it repeats the call, and only four failures in a row by default (the first plus three retries) open an incident | Not confirmed |
| How it alerts and escalates | Email and SMS, in tiers, until someone acknowledges | Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, webhooks or email; SMS is not on the list; its own escalation: not confirmed (source) |
| SLA report | Yes: every month, with availability for the month and for the last 12 months | SLA dashboards and branded scheduled reports, the latter only on the Carrier and Enterprise plans; monthly or yearly frequency: not confirmed (source) |
| In Portuguese | Yes: product, alerts and reports in Portuguese and English | Not found: website in English, with a German option (source) |
| Managed service or do it yourself | Managed service: 2N5 registers, verifies and configures every circuit | Do it yourself: 14-day trial with no card and setup in under 5 minutes; Enterprise includes a dedicated account manager (source) |
| Published pricing | No: a proposal after the demo | Yes, in euros per month (read on 2026-10-07): Starter €99, Growth €499, Carrier €1,499, billed monthly; €89, €449 and €1,349 on the annual plan billed monthly; Enterprise on request (source) |
| Coverage in Brazil | Yes: 0800, 0300, 4004 and landline numbers, with any carrier; SLA measured over the year, as Brazilian contracts do | Brazil not mentioned: it tests from the European Union, the US and Asia-Pacific, and the data stays in the European Union (source) |
Where Sipfront is better
- It publishes its prices and lets you start on your own, with a 14-day trial, no credit card and no sales call.
- It runs load and stress tests, WebRTC tests (Lens) and voicebot tests (Echo), on top of monitoring.
- It integrates with CI/CD through an API, MCP and GitHub Actions, and alerts in Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty and webhooks.
- It checks every 3 minutes on the Carrier plan, and hosts the data in the European Union.
What is the difference between Sipfront and Monitor?
The shape of the service. Both place real test calls and both use ViSQOL for audio MOS. Sipfront is a self-service platform hosted in the European Union: you create the account, set up the tests and read the results. Monitor is a service managed by 2N5: you send the list of circuits and contacts, and 2N5 registers, verifies and configures everything. See how it works.
Does Sipfront also measure voice with ViSQOL?
Yes. A Sipfront blog post dated 2025-07-02 says ViSQOL is its preferred open-source alternative for measuring audio MOS. Beat shows MOS, jitter, loss and RTT; whether the MOS on each Beat check comes from ViSQOL or from the network is something we could not confirm.
Monitor measures the MOS-LQO of every test call with ViSQOL, comparing the received audio with the number’s reference recording, which 2N5 records during onboarding. By default, a circuit is healthy from 3.8 up and degraded below 3.0. See voice quality (MOS-LQO) and the ViSQOL glossary entry.
What does Sipfront do better?
It publishes its prices and lets you start on your own in minutes, with a 14-day trial and no card. It goes beyond monitoring: functional and load tests (Probe), WebRTC (Lens) and voicebots (Echo), with integration through an API, MCP and GitHub Actions. It checks every 3 minutes on the Carrier plan and alerts in Slack, Teams, PagerDuty, webhooks or email. For a technical team that wants to test its own SIP service on every release, that counts for a lot.
How much does each one cost?
Sipfront publishes its prices in euros per month. On the page read on 2026-10-07:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | €99 | €89 |
| Growth | €499 | €449 |
| Carrier | €1,499 | €1,349 |
| Enterprise | On request | On request |
Paying the annual plan upfront saves 15%. Starter includes only Beat, with hourly checks and 2 targets; Growth checks every 15 minutes.
Monitor has no list price: pricing is per monitored circuit and service, and 2N5 sends a proposal after a demo on your own numbers. See how to buy.
How does each one alert?
Sipfront sends alerts to Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, webhooks or email; SMS is not on the list. There is a PagerDuty integration; its own escalation, or a retry before the alert, is something we could not confirm.
Monitor alerts by email and SMS. A call that fails is repeated, and only consecutive failures, four by default, open an incident. The ladder moves up tier by tier until someone acknowledges with a tap on the link in the SMS. See alerts and escalation.
What about numbers in Brazil and SLA reports?
Sipfront tests from the European Union, the US and Asia-Pacific and does not mention Brazil. It has SLA dashboards and, on the Carrier and Enterprise plans, branded scheduled reports. Monitor calls 0800, 0300 and 4004 and landline numbers, with any carrier, and sends a report every month with availability for the month and for the last 12 months, in Portuguese or English. See SLA reports and other comparisons.
